That recently on a tryst to Target, I bought deodorant. I set out to get a razor because Gillette can’t quite get the disposable thing down ever since they stopped making the gray and turquoise ones. Now the turquoise and white ones that were meant to replace them make my legs scream out in stinging pain. What were they thinking? Anyways, I decided to take the plunge into heavy duty razorship (heavy duty means that the razor falls in the $7.00-$10.00 range and is made of metal). I went with a Schick Quattro pro and feel pretty good about it. Don’t let that puppy get dull though or your legs, armpits will be right back to square one and crying out in high pitched pain. While on the razor isle, I turned around and realized that I was also on the deodorant isle and remembered that I happened to be out. I usually just use the crystal rock deodorant, (which lasts for years or until you kids drop it and it cuts your armpits every day when you put it on), but sometimes, usually during the change of seasons, I just need a little more. If you catch my drift…
I try to get deodorant that isn’t full of aluminum and such but every time that I try the natural stuff it burns my armpits and makes the skin fall off. Cancer and Alzheimer’s, or skinless armpits? Sounds like it shouldn’t be a dilemma but somehow, it is. I saw the Tom’s of Maine and thought to myself “yah, right, I know what happens to my poor armpits when I use that, so thank you Tom of Maine but no thanks.” But then I saw that they had a new formula “Sensitive Skin formula.” Perfect. I picked it up and smelled it. Completely scent free. A downer for me because I love smells. But I decided to try it and I put it in my cart. No sooner than I did that, did I look over and see Tom’s of Maine all natural Apricot Scented Stick of Delight. (Not really what it was called but I can’t remember the exact name off the top of my head right now). I smelled it and couldn’t bring myself to buy the boring Scent Free Stick of Boredom and decided to give Tom his 7th and final chance. Well I am happy to report that after a few days of burning armpits and growing disappointment, knowing that this would be the end of the road for Tom and I, I accidentally put my deodorant on later than normal and, I’ll be darned, they didn’t burn. I guess that I can’t put it on right out of the shower but have to wait until the just- after-mascara portion of my morning (or afternoon) routine. Now I smell like an apricot jubilee and frankly, I couldn’t be happier about it. Anyways, just thought you might be interested to know.

Hops inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. The antimicrobial action of hops inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria while reducing the possibility of skin irritation.
Zinc ricinoleate binds up odor molecules. Sourced from castor beans, zinc ricinoleate traps and absorbs bad smells
Natural fragrance blocks odor. Encapsulating natural fragrance oils with silica shells makes them last longer.

Love the new look of your blog! I am totally giving Tom a shot. I can't wait to tell my sister who also uses the rock stuff.
Thanks for the heads up!
you can use the crystal rock??? I used it once when I was a teenager and it made me cry like a baby. I had to immediately re-shower and it hurt for the rest of the day. I was convinced that it was a demonic presence sent from Hades. I am totally impressed that it hasn't killed you.
I hate having sensitive skin.
Isn't it the bacteria poo not the bacteria itself that causes the nasty B.O. smell? Was it you I was talking to about this? Anyway, glad you found a good one, I really need something else. Now lets see some pictures from Mexico!!
Great new look! Hm... I guess I will have to look into changing my deoderant! (We are on a health kick here) Love good info though. I am going to an essential oils class the first week of November in Gilbert if you wanna come! Should be some good info!
Oh, you should check out the Enlightened Homemaker too. (The oils class is at her house) She has LOTS of great info on her blog.
You need to write a book...you're so hilarious! I too gave up on the natural deoderant but I think I might just give Tom a try...who knew! I can't wait to hear about your trip to Cancun!
