The Prodical Blogger Comes Back.

Conversations with Bobby Lou:

Last night I was tucking Lennon into bed. I was in a hurry because Crayton was at basketball practice down the street and I needed to pick him up. She needed to be well on her way to dream land in order for that to happen according to my plans, so I didn’t have time to go through reading a story or tackling the task of waiting for her to be convinced to get on her knees and say her prayers. Knowing that when we are experiencing gratitude we are very close to God, I decided to play the Grateful Game. (I know that it isn’t exactly the same as prayer but when you are in a crunch, it works) I said “Lennon, why don’t we play the grateful game tonight.” Her eyes got big and she giggled and agreed with much excitement. I explained the rules: You have to tell mommy 5 things that you are grateful for as fast as you can. Ready, set (I held up my index finger to signify thing #1), GO!

She giggled and got started:

Lennon: I’m really grateful that Jesus presented me so that I can eat food.

Mommy: (my thoughts exactly) nodded with big agreeing eyes. She beamed.

Lennon: I’m grateful that Laman and what’s that other guys name?

Mommy: Lemuel?

Lennon: Oh, yeah, Lemuel. I’m grateful that Laman and Lemuel didn’t obey their daddy (eyes growing wider) or even Jesus.

Mommy: Okie Dokie. I’d like to expound upon that one but Crayton is going to be done very soon so I resorted to the contemplative nod.

Lennon: I’m grateful that *****, (name removed to protect the innocent) will be nice to me and not be mean to me and talk to me ‘stead of dist ignoring me when I ask her questions. I’m really grateful for that (nodding with quick certainty).

Mommy: That does feel good when our friends are kind and respectful. Good one!

Lennon: I’m grateful that Tyson’s mommy ALWAYS wants me to come to her house. (shakes her head, and smiles the ‘gosh, everyone loves me’ smile and continues)

Mommy: She does love you doesn’t she?

Lennon: Ya, she really does. (again, the ‘everyone loves me’ smile and nod)

Lennon: I’m really grateful that when I say “mommy, can I please have a piece of black licorice?” and you say “No Lennon, you can’t have a piece of black licorice.” That I can go in and say “Daddy can I have a piece of black licorice? And he says “yes, Lennon, you can have a piece of black licorice.” I’m really grateful ‘bout that.

Mommy: (thinking to herself: sounds like mommy and daddy need to have a talk.)

I do love my Lennon Eve. She is precious.

ha! I play that game on my parents all the time.

"dad, will you buy me and Cole cruisers for Christmas?"

when he says no, I tell cole to ask his parents.

works like a charm. :)

Alright alright, I'll admit it is my daughter that is rude to Lennon sometimes. What am I going to do with that Ellie. =)

Wow! That's freaky! I must've been channeling your post while we were talking. Good to know my hubby is not the only one to "reverse parenting" on me! ;)

Lennon is adorable and entertaining as always. You really need to get her an agent. There is money to be made off that cute little smile! ;)

She is wise beyond her years. She informed me that Finn has a "weird shaped head". I had no idea!

I LOVE all Lennon stories! She really is a gem! Just like her momma! :) It's sad to admit...but sometimes I go back through your blog and find the "I don't care....I love my wedding!" song when I need a little help smiling! Works like a charm! You're a cute mommy!

Oh, how I love Lennon, and her mamma. It makes me cry when I think about moving so far away from you! Thank heaven for blogs and such. You better promise to give me a call every time you come to Utah! I'm like 30 seconds from your sister's house. At the very least, we will have to go to lunch or something.
